Peeney Batman Returns

Catwoman is complex like Bruce Wayne they both have split personalities and one of them involves dressing up in a costume and running around Gotham City. Both of them had a tragic accident that triggered this behavior for Batman it was watching his parents being murdered when he was a young child and for Catwoman it was being pushed out of a window to what was supposed to be her death. It is cool to see these similar characters interact and even have a romantic interest and eventually find out who is behind the mask.

I think that the costumed sides of their personalities are what they want to be but they cannot express this side of their personality as themselves. Bruce Wayne is a rich powerful man but he is very quiet and introverted, when he puts on the costume he is a hero and he is strong and brave and not afraid to go out and save the city. Same goes for Selena Kyle when she is just her she is a boring, single, secretary, cat lady with not much going for her but when she is in the costume she is a sexy powerful strong woman who calls the shots unlike your typical secretary.

When they first meet as Bruce Wayne and Selena Kyle they know nothing of the other’s secret identity it is just basic attraction. Later Batman and Catwoman meet and they fight and after that Catwoman wants to join up with the Penguin to destroy Batman. At the same time Bruce has Selena over for a dinner  date after they both worked around their “busy” calanders. I think they both start to assume the other’s identity when they are making out and just happen to find the wounds they gave eachother.  So they spilt personality of this relationship might change because it isn’t too healthy to grab dinner with someone one night then try to kill them a few hours later.

In the end of the movie at the masked ball they are both the only ones without masks and in this scene they both confirm their doubts about the other’s identity. It is seen that in the last scene of the movie Catwoman sacrifices a few of her nine lives to save Batman and to get rid of Max Schreck who is against both of them. The two relationships line up and are both on the good side at the very end of the movie
