We all have a hidden darkness within us , a hidden evil , a small rotten core in us that we learn to live with and mask with happiness. What happens if that Dark Core that lies within all of us evolves into something that ingulfs our sanity ? We become a person that fears nothing , a person that manipulates others with insidious intentions, a person free of guilt , cunning , kharismatic , unprictable, dangerous, etc.. In essance we become a Joker, that thrives in a Noir world that is omnipresent us. We treat our sinister deeds as badges of honor, and look back without regret. The world is viewed as a slaughter house, or a king of hill game. A Joker
Batman, the hero, the anti hero, the outkast to Gotham, the idealic Noir protaganist , has the personality of a recluse , but a heart of a saint. Created by the Joker , and vice versa; he compliments the scum world of Gotham City(AKA NOIR WORLD) with his detective title, his pristine fighting skills, his abilty to woo women with words without even voicing them, his wealth, omnious but galtious mansion, his bat cave, batmobile, his history, everything about Bruce Wayne is a Noir.
With these two characters , Tim Burton made an almost perfect noir film with a well known hero, and a villian that set the standards for all villians to come . Each one of these characters played a part in every single moment in the film , whether they caused it , or whether they were in that very moment . The lighting contrasts , which signified to the veiwer the good and evil . Light and Dark "Noired" certain scenes of the movie. For instance, in the beginning of movie we see one of the polices heads making a deal with Jack Napier(The joker) Tim Burton used the light and darkness contrasting to view the two conflicting sides of Justice and Corruption. Batman in All black and the Joker in flamboient colors as is his attire, the contrasting of two describes the different personalities of the two. Joker as the loud obnoxious bastard, and Batman as the lonely hero with ideals of light , but a core of darkness. Usually heros are in the flamboient colors rather than the villians , but in a noir world everthing is twisted, but signifigant. Joker being ransacked with happiness by his deeds, and Batman a log to his selfless actions. In this "noir world" the opposites were heavily used to justify a genius work of art, that even critics will forever call one of the best Noir Films of all time
