Turnage - Edward scissor hand and his fairytale

Edward scissor hand can be compared to many known American fairytales. His story has the common factor of finding out who he really is . Like in most fairy tales the character is either trying to figure out who they are or being something that they are not. Edward scissor hand came to the neighborhood below his deserted mansion looking to be accepted and to fill in the loneliness that he himself contained inside.

Edward tries to wear these clothes given to him to give off a different look of his original appearance to make him further blend in with the people who occupied the neighborhood, but this did not last long, it was only temporary. This compares to the fairytale of Cinderella. Cinderella was also given a new set of clothes to wear to make her appear as something she was not. She was given a large beautiful ball gown to hide her true identity of who she really was a. A step child who is being treated horribly by her step mom and step sisters. Both Cinderella and Edward Scissor Hand tried to fool the people and community around them as if they were the same as them making them seem as if they blended in and were a part of their society ,  both the character clothing wear was temporary to them and soon the people they were trying to hide there looks from of who they really were soon became revealed. And in shock while they were revealed in their normal wear, original wear they were still accepted and it was not made into a big deal.

Both Cinderella and Edward scissor hand were living and undesired life and were rescued by others. Edward was rescued by the Avon lady of the neighborhood while Cinderella was saved by her fairy god mother. The two ladies who saved both Edward scissor hand and Cinderella wanted to let them have that chance of feeling accepted by others which I believe allowed Cinderella and Edward scissor hand learn to love there selves .

The unfit circumstances of the shoot molded the character Cinderella and Edward Scissor hand and developed their character to give them an understanding that they are different and its okay. It helped them learn to accept the fact and embrace it allowing the truth of the real identity to come out. As Cinderella had to soon show the prince she was a peasant and as Edward scissor hand finally became fed up of not being himself, he ripped the clothes given to him and made revealed and wore the original outfit made for him.
