One similar element between Ed Wood and Burton is that they used the same "family" of actors and actresses. ALthough Ed Wood couldn't afford to hire big Hollywood star names he used the same misfit, no name actors. Just as Tim Burton put together his misfit and strange family with his reoccuring actors such as Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder. In Tim Burton's movie Ed Wood, the next element we say that Burton shows is that Ed Wood was a cross-dresser. Burton could have just let his film revolve around the fact that Ed Wood was an awful director, but he put in Ed Wood's personal character and ouch. He showed the audience what made Ed Wood feel comfortable, happy, and brought him inspiration. Just as we see Tim Burton's inspiration in his works come from his childhood, Vincent Price, and gothic feel of things. Another element is Tim Burton telling Ed Wood's story through a motion picture. In the movie Ed Wood, we see that Wood wants to cover others life stories through his films, so it would only make sense for his to be seen through a camera lens as well. Tim Burton uses scenes from Ed Wood's own film productions such as the making and filming of Plan 9. Burton used his talents not to just show that Ed Wood wasn't a talented director or producer, but that he was a man of ambition and spunk something that Hollywood lacks.
